Digital documentation of EPAs, self-reflection, Mini-CEX and more. Individualised, video-based feedback with a VideoLab interface.
Communities of practice, workshops, sharing of forms and EPAs, and longitudinal networking across all areas of training.
Entrustable Professional Activities describe professional tasks that can be entrusted to learners with increasing independence as their competence develops. They connect competencies, clinical tasks and supervision decisions.
UCAN TRUST maps this approach digitally. Observations, assessments, feedback and development status can be documented for every EPA. This creates a longitudinal picture of competency development – not as a snapshot, but as a progression across multiple situations, people and points in time.
The software can support, among other things:
UCAN TRUST was developed for settings in which personal data, training data and potentially sensitive contextual information play a particular role. Data protection, access control and responsible data use are therefore central requirements.
The software is designed for GDPR-compliant use. Roles and permissions, secure digital processes and transparent documentation help institutions implement EPA-based learning and assessment responsibly.
For each implementation, data protection, roles, responsibilities and local processes can be coordinated with the participating institutions.
UCAN TRUST was developed by Institut für Kommunikations- und Prüfungsforschung gGmbH in cooperation with Heilbronn University and the German Society for Outpatient General Paediatrics.
The development combines expertise in medical education, assessment and communication research, digital competency development and outpatient care. UCAN TRUST is therefore not designed as an isolated assessment tool, but as digital infrastructure for workplace-based learning, feedback and development.
The focus is on scientifically sound, practical and data-protection-conscious use in education and training.
